Description
The Twin Cities College for the Easily Amused is a skill toy group Schalicto and I started back when I lived in Minneapolis (2000-2005). During that time we ordered a few custom batches of Fireballs, Saber Fireballs, and Saber Raiders. I’ve been hanging on to a few of these over the years, and I’m listing them now, with 100% of proceeds of these yo-yos going to the community outreach projects at The Briar Bar in Minneapolis.
The yo-yos here all have the College For The Easily Amused logo on one side, and a drawing of me (Doc Pop) on the other. These were made in 2002 and are all still brand new, never used.
The Saber Raiders and Saber Fireballs are translucent blue and green, with special rubber weights that were added in the Yomega factory before the yo-yos were assembled. I believe these rings add about 5 grams more weight to the yo-yo, for longer spin times. The weight of these yo-yos are about 53 grams.
The Fireball is a glow in the dark outer body, with translucent green caps. The glow material is a little heavier than the usual translucent plastic, which I think is nice. This yo-yo is 52 grams, but does not have the added rubber rings like the Saber Raiders and Saber Fireballs.
The Fireball is a classic imperial shape with plastic transaxle sleeve. The Saber Fireball is a butterfly shape with plastic transaxle sleeve. The Saber Raider is a butterfly with ball bearings.
As mentioned before, 100% of proceeds will go to The Briar Bar’s community outreach programs. This includes things like distributing emergency whistles, “Know Your Rights” zines, free community dinners, and food drives for mutual aid. Abe Z, an old friend and founding member of the College For The Easily Amused, is a co-owner of The Briar Bar and has been personally driving donations to where they’re needed most. Minneapolis has been on my mind a lot lately, so it means a lot to see these funds going directly toward community events and mutual aid there.
