The Washing Machine, an instructable

Instructables.com is a wonderful tool for “showing what you make and how others can make it”, but I also believe that it could also become a tool used by yo-yoers to share what they do and how others can do it as well.

I started with a basic trick, Rock The Baby, just to try it out as an instructable.

Now I have just finished uploading all the details you really need to do the Washing Machine. Check it out HERE.

The Washing Machine was created about 7 years ago, and it’s still one of the neatest looking tricks in my arsenal. It’s an offstring trick, that doesn’t require you to start offstring. In fact you can do it in the middle of a normal one handed performance with very little set up.

Adding this trick to the website is more than just an exercise in how useful instructables.com can be for yo-yoers, it’s also an attempt to make one of my favorite tricks more accessible. The Washing Machine intimidates many players, but I’m telling you that any intermediate player can do the basics of the trick (removing the yo-yo and putting it back on).

So please check out my instructable, try it out, and let me know if any of the steps are confusing or could be worded better.

Yo-yo Segment On Cartoon Network

REEDIT:
Alright, I just found out there are a few different versions of this Cartoon Network video.
One is only 1:15 long and I appear at the end doing the “Martini”.
The other is 3:15 and I get a few good quotes.
So… I’m still trying to catch the good version. But I can’t watch all that anime for one more second.
Below is the shorter version.

Doc Pop breaks Rick Wyatt’s Record.

Rick Wyatt is a legend in the yo-yo community. A National Master, instructional video star, and pro for both Yomega and YoYoJam, Rick is most known as the world record holder for longest sleep. I was there when Rick broke the 9 minute record and again when he beat 11 minutes, so I’ve studied his technique closely.

Finally, after a couple weeks of trash talk on the yo-yo boards, Rick and I battled on the stage at the National Yo-Yo Contest in Chico California. Watch as I break Rick’s record with a stock Fireball!

Nationals in one week

I’m getting ready for the National Yo-Yo Contest in one week.

I’ll be entering in the One Handed and Freehand divisions this year, same as last.

Phil (from Yes, Absolutely.) and I where hoping to have some shmooved up Bolt yo-yos for sale, but right after picking up the yo-yos from my pad, Phil was hit by a semi-truck. Don’t worry, I know that sounds terrible, but luckily the only damage Phil had was to his right foot. Icky image below.

Mmmm, taste the Painbow.

So Phil is off his foot for a week or two.

I’ll have modded and stock Bolts, comic books, and medium shirts with me for sale or trade at the event.

Branding- new trick video

I posted a new video on yo-yoing.com’s vid thingy, it’s of a move called Branding. I put it up after getting a bunch of questions from folks who saw it in Coast On Starlight.

The set up makes the actual move easier, and it helps if you try to keep the yo-yo isolated while the yo hand does ALL the movement.

Coast Starlight… End of the line…

First off, Phil and I would like to thank everyone for their support of the our first yo-yo, The End. As of Saturday we are sold out, that was lightning quick, but not a big surprise since we saw a big demand for this type of yo-yo. Yes, Absolutely. is already at work on our next yo-yo the BLT.

Feedback of the End is high, and most of them have been shipped this morning. Boxthor got his hands on one early and has posted picks on his Flickr page, check those out. Special thanks to Kiya and Sonny of Anti-Yo, The End is pretty much just a souped up Eetsit, and none of this would have been doable without their making it possible.

I have a new video out called Coast On Starlight that was started immediately after arriving back from shooting Master Of Champions in LA… So it’s been a long work in progress. It’s been delayed up until now largely because of problems with iMovie, but I figured out a cool trick to get it all up and so here it is! Featuring new music by Drown Radio (of course).

I always love hearing feedback, constructive is preferred.
